Alcohol Balls

12 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate
1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons of white corn syrup
2/3 cup bourbon or rum or what-have-you(?)
last time I used home-made coffee
   liqueur
5 cups crushed wafers (vanilla for most, but
OK to use other flavours as well)
2 cups of chopped walnuts (or other nuts)
powdered sugar for coating

  • Melt chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, and remove from heat.
  • Crush wafers in a food processor — or you can smash them in a bag.
  • Stir sugar and corn syrup into the chocolate.
  • Once combined, add the alcohol.
  • Add wafer crumbs and chopped nuts.
  • Form the dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar, then let them sit in a cool, dark place for for 3 to 4 days to ripen.
